I speak, write, conduct research, and consult internationally on assessment innovations that matter: Innovation in educational assessment, emphasizing equity and real-world impact that educators, policy makers, and the public can understand. Specializations include personalizing assessment through generative AI and non-AI means, responsibly incorporating AI into assessment, validity and fairness, socioculturally responsive assessment, formative assessment, and assessment research.

Featured Work

Recent activities include helping a major testing organization re-envision science performance assessment for its largest state assessment contract, serving on technical assistance committees for a major assessment consortium and one of the nation's largest school districts, being a member of a National Academy of Education committee designing a roadmap for the future of AI and assessment, and conducting research on personalizing assessment to enhance validity and fairness.
